We are very fortunate to have a remarkably diverse landscape around us, with the wondrous honey coloured villages of the Cotswolds, the majestic Malvern Hills, and the mighty Forest of Dean, all within a 15 minute drive, as well as the glory of the Severn Valley in which we sit.
Castles of Eastnor (10 minutes) Sudeley (20 minutes) Berkeley (25 minutes) and Warwick only 40 minutes away.
Gardens galore, crowned by Hidcote only 40 minutes away.
Westonbirt Arboretum (bliss!) only 45 minutes, and the Wildfowl Trust at Slimbridge (35 minutes) and close to both Berkeley Castle and Westonbirt, to do in a day if you have the energy.
Birds of Prey at Newent, is pretty good (10 Minutes)
Three Choirs Vineyard Walk, Talk and Lunch is great.
Elgar’s Birthplace if you are Musical (10 minutes)
Madresfield (where Brideshead Revisited was filmed) 15 minutes.
Cheltenham Racecourse – Mecca for National Hunt enthusiasts (10 minutes)
Hartpury College, where numerous equestrian sports are taught, and events held. (5 minutes)
Three Counties Show Ground (15 minutes) Garden shows, horse shows, dog shows, flower shows etc.
Biking and “Go Ape” for the young, in Forest of Dean, 15 minutes
Shopping in Cheltenham (20 minutes) or the lovely market town of Ledbury – also 20 minutes.
Very good theatres in both Cheltenham and Malvern (20 minutes) and only 40 minutes to Stratford on Avon.
The Cathedrals of Gloucester, Worcester and Hereford are all splendid, and the beauty of Tewkesbury Abbey is not to be missed and of course the Three Choirs Festival held in August in these beautiful buildings is a must for music lovers.
