About Us

We purchased Corse Lawn as a family, my late husband Denis, son Giles and I, over 41 years ago, as a bankrupt restaurant near Tewkesbury. We had been looking for a restaurant in Gloucestershire or at least a restaurant in the Cotswolds, and this one ticked all the boxes, beautiful setting, unspoilt area and great potential for luxury restaurant, and room for Gloucestershire bistro, and the room to add beautiful bedrooms to turn it into a luxury Cotswold hotel with fine dining restaurant near Gloucester, and affordable! In the intervening years we have made many changes, and have extended the building hugely, but our core values have never altered. As a family we believed in old fashioned hospitality and service – no automated check-ins and credit card keys here! We aim to produce superb food and wine in a beautiful setting provided by people who truly care about making your stay memorable

I ran the kitchen for nearly 27 years, with my husband and son ‘out front’ and together we turned the hotel into one of the most popular fine dining restaurants in Gloucestershire, as well as a top Gloucestershire luxury hotel, and gained numerous awards. We have been very lucky to have had much praise for our wonderful staff, great atmosphere, relaxing comfort and friendly home from home feel, as well as for the quality of our food, wine and service.

Sadly, my husband died in 2005, and Giles and his Kiwi wife, Sue moved to New Zealand with their two children, but I remained here with a great team, many of whom are still with me now. Gilles Champier has been here nearly forty years, and is senior in charge, with Vikki the star in reception who has been here for some twenty six years, Manager David has spent an on and off twenty years here, and Nick who looks after the grounds is another twenty years survivor! Many more have clocked up quite long spells here, including deputy manager Vlad, Richard the Sous Chef, and Tom, also in the kitchen, and Mary washing up. I would also like to introduce new Head Chef, Chris Exley, who comes with a glittering CV, and is married to a local girl, and is attracting a lot of attention from our regulars and new guests alike. Watch this space!

Charmingly situated in the Severn Valley between the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills and the Forest of Dean, Corse Lawn is within easy reach of Cheltenham, Gloucester, Worcester, Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn as well as Tewkesbury Abbey, Hartpury College, and the Three Counties Showground, and many Cathedrals, Castles and wonderful Country houses and gardens to view.

To me, it is my beloved home and hotel, and I welcome you to enjoy your visit.
